Fabric
At Bronté, we love the fabrics from top European manufacturers such as Harris Tweed and Linton Tweed. We visit their factories several times a year to select the best qualities for making Bronté hats.
Summer We like linen, cotton, viscose, and sometimes even silk for summer (although most summer silk fabrics need more body to make hats, limiting their uses). Fabrics should be light enough and easy to wear with many outfits. Our strict rule is to use natural fibres as lining to prevent sweating in the summer heat.
Winter It is from Italian en British mills that we select wool and wool blend fabrics for our winter hat collection. The super strong wool tweeds by Harris Tweed and the fine luxury tweeds from Linton Tweeds are among our favourites. Linton in particular surprises us every month with new fabric designs that we can't resist. The Italian wool and wool blend fabrics have different properties and yet they are equally suitable for making hats. We often buy the last meters of a fabric to guarantee that production is exclusive and limited.
Care advice Most cotton and linen hats can be hand washed with mild soap, shampoo, and 30-degree warm water. Use a towel to remove most water and place a small towel inside the hat to let it dry to its original shape.
