SPF50+ Material
SPF protection
Sun-protective hats are essential on warm summer days to shield your skin from harmful UV rays. The sun is especially damaging between noon and 3 PM, and it's important to protect your face and ears during these hours.
The size of a hat's brim or cap plays a significant role in sun protection. A wider brim will offer better coverage for your face and ears compared to a shorter one. Be sure that the peak or visor extends far enough to shield your nose and ears as well.
Cooling Materials
Hats made of natural straw with SPF 50 protection are lightweight, airy, and comfortable to wear. Materials like sisal straw, Panama fiber, or braided cellulose straw allow your body heat to escape, helping you stay cool. It’s best to avoid synthetic fibers, as they can trap heat and lead to discomfort and sweating.
Check out our collection of Panama straw hats, including models like Patricia, Luc, Thomas, and Martin.
Get inspired by our wide range of natural straw hats made from braided cellulose fibers, such as Anna, Josephine, and Linda, all of which provide SPF 50 protection.
Storage and Cleaning of Straw Hats and Caps with SPF50 Protection
It’s important not to wash straw hats or caps, as the fibers will absorb moisture, which can cause the headwear to lose its shape. However, you can clean the sweatband ribbon inside the hat or cap. To do this, take a clean kitchen towel, apply a few drops of 80% alcohol, and gently rub the sweatband area. The alcohol will effectively remove makeup and skin residue. After cleaning, allow the sweatband to dry for about 10 minutes before wearing your hat or cap again.
SPF Protection and Fabric Headwear
We also offer hats and caps made from fabrics that provide SPF protection. When selecting materials, we consider the density and incorporate an additional layer of interlining to enhance sun protection. The effectiveness of SPF in fabric hats also depends on the width of the brim or peak of the cap.
Storage and Cleaning of Fabric Headwear
At the end of the season, it's essential to store your SPF-protected headwear properly. Depending on the materials used, you may either hand wash or opt for dry cleaning for your fabric hat or cap.
For hand washing a cotton hat or cap, use mild shampoo or detergent in hand-warm water. Rinse the hat or cap and gently remove excess water by pressing it between two layers of a towel, being careful not to deform the firm peak. Place a small towel (20x20 cm) inside the hat to help restore its original shape. Allow it to dry completely and flat in a well-ventilated area, such as a balcony or garden. Once dry, add some tissue paper inside the hat or cap. Finally, store a clean hat or cap in a closed plastic bag to protect it from dust and prevent color changes.
